iOSCrowntakers, released on AND, iOS and PC, is a production combining the elements of turn-based strategy and classic RPGs. The game was developed by Boulevard and published by Kalypso Media.
Plot
Crowntakers takes place in a fantastical world. After the king was kidnapped, the world plunged into darkness and disorder. Our task is to restore the former glory of this land, freeing the ruler from the hands of the wicked prince and stopping the evil spreading everywhere. We control nine mercenaries and lead them against wild animals, bandits, and sinister knights. The battlefields are covered in hexagonal fields. During our expedition we also use class skills (for example archer, sorcerer or scout), collect the necessary resources, acquire useful equipment, advance our companions and use the available potions - all to survive and save the king before the time runs out.
Mechanics
The gameplay mechanics are a mix of turn-based strategy, cRPG and roguelike. Battles require a tactical approach and wise character development. The game itself is not excessively demanding, but one should bear in mind that on hard difficulty level our every defeat requires us to start the game from scratch. You should also pay attention to the fatigue level of your characters. Rested warriors can receive various bonuses, while tired warriors will be able to count on penalties that reduce their effectiveness.
An important element of fun is undoubtedly the randomly generated game world. The system makes changes in locations and enemies, thanks to which the game is very varied and players have a good reason to try out different strategies. In Crowntakers, you will find more than four different, procedurally created environments, from mountain passes to dark castles.
