Where And How To Enter Cheats In Red Dead Redemption 2

Entering Cheats in Red Dead Redemption 2 is very easy. Follow the steps provided below and you will be up and running.

Step 1: Pause the game.
Step 2: Go to SETTINGS and press Y (Xbox One) or TRIANGLE (PS4), you will enter CHEATS Menu.
Step 3: Just enter the Cheat you want to activate (the full list of Red Dead Redemption 2 Cheat is provided below).
Step 4: If you have entered the cheat correctly, you will receive a message prompt stating that the cheat has been unlocked.

The best part is that you won’t have to retype or re-enter the cheat again and again to activate it. You can use Cheat OFF or NO toggle for it. To use Toggle for a cheat, all you have to do is Save Your Game immediately after activating a particular cheat. For example, I correctly unlocked Infinite Ammo cheat using the above steps, now to use Toggle ON/OFF for it, I just have to save the game immediately after unlocking the cheat.

Important Note on Red Dead Redemption 2 Cheats

Make sure that you enter each Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats correctly. You won’t have to worry about the Upper Case and Lower Case for the cheat, the cheats listed below are capitalization free.
You won’t be able to earn Trophies or Achievements if a cheat is active.
You won’t be able to save your game progress if a cheat is turned ON.

Some Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats come with a prerequisite i.e. particular things is required to activate the cheat, if you don’t have them in your inventory then you won’t be able to activate that particular cheat. These prerequisite are listed below along with the cheats. If you take a look at the Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats list below, the most common prerequisite is “Newspapers”. You will find Newspapers throughout the game, some of them carry cheats in them (hidden) so to activate that particular cheat you need to have that particular newspaper in your inventory as simple as that.

What It Does: Infinite Ammo Supply
Prerequisite: New Hanover Gazette No. 27 Newspaper. You can buy it in Valentine during Chapter 1.

Heavy Weapons

Cheat: Greed is American Virtue
What It Does: Unlocks Pump-Action Shotgun, Bolt Action Rifle, Mauser Pistol, and Semi-Automatic Pistol weapons. You will find these weapons in your inventory.
Prerequisite: You have to get a newspaper after completing Chapter 3 mission – Advertising ,The New American Art.

Fog of War

Cheat: You Long for Sight but See Nothing
Prerequisite: After completing Chapter 3 Mission Blood Feuds, you have to buy an Ancient and Modern newspaper.
What It Does: Unlocks Entire Map.

Dead Eye Level Is Set To 3

Cheat: I shall be better
What It Does: With this cheat, you can set Dead Eye to Level 3.
Prerequisite: NA

Dead Eye Level Is Set To 5

Cheat: I seek and I find
What It Does: With this cheat, you can set Dead Eye to Level 5.
Prerequisite: NA

Set Dead Eye, Health And Stamina Bars At Max

Cheat: You flourish before you die
What It Does: Your Dead Eye, Stamina, and Health bar are set to MAX.
Prerequisite: NA

Fortify Health, Stamina and Dead Eye Bars

Cheat: You Seek More Than The World Offers
What It Does: Works exactly as the above cheat, the difference is that apart from Refilling Health, Stamina and Dead Eye bars, it fortify these bars.
Prerequisite: Yet to be found.

Increase Horse Whistle Range

Cheat: Better than my dog
What It Does: You can call your horse with a whistle from any distance.
Prerequisite: NA

Drunk

Cheat: A fool on command
What It Does: You will instantly go into the drunk state.
Prerequisite: NA

Create Race Horse

Cheat: Run! Run! Run!
What It Does: Instantly spawns a racehorse.
Prerequisite: NA

Create War Horse

Cheat: You are a beast built for war
What It Does: Instantly spawns a war horse.
Prerequisite: Yet to be found.

Create Wagon

Cheat: Keep your dreams simple
What It Does: Instantly spawns a wagon with one horse
Prerequisite: NA

Create Circus Wagon

Cheat: Would you be happier as a clown?
What It Does: Instantly spawns a circus wagon.

High Honor

Cheat: Virtue Unearned is not virtue
What It Does: Your HONOR rating will be raided

Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats being present in the game shouldn't be a big surprise - the first of Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption games had them, as had the Grand Theft Auto series.

That said, the place to enter Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats is a little hidden, so you'd be forgiven for even noticing they were even there.

Of course, as soon as you enable it, you'll get a warning - activating a cheat means you cannot save your single player progress, or collect Trophies or Achievements. In short - anything you do from then on won't count.

How to unlock cheats with newspapers in Red Dead Redemption 2

As mentioned above, there are certain requirements in the form of Newspapers, which are sold at vendors in settlements. You need to own the corresponding Newspaper in order to unlock the cheat, which is printed at the bottom if you flip it over, like so:

If you try to enter these types of cheats ahead of time, the game will give you an error message saying 'You do not meet the prerequisites to unlock this cheat'.

There are three types of different newspapers, which will release new editions throughout the story. You can choose to purchase them from Valentine (New Hanover Gazette), Strawberry (Blackwater Ledger) and Rhodes (Saint Denis Times) as you go, or wait until the end to catch up on the back catalogue.

For some reason there are times where you cannot buy a newspaper from a vendor. If you come across this, we recommend coming back later to try again. As far as we understand, none are missable, so don't sweat it if you pass one by.
