The shrine is a special statue that will grant you a special item. Various special items are listed below:

Alexander's Obol[editedit source]

Alexander's Obol is an item you are forced to give to Charon after you die. After giving it away, if you re-enter the Alexander boss room, you are warped to a special stage titled 'Sir Wagner VS Alexander the IV'. Here, your character is changed to a level 0 Hokage equipped with two vault runes and high level equipment; you are given a dark sword, dark helm, retribution chestplate, retribution bracers, a sky cape, and the teleport spell. You then face off against a heavily upgraded level 275 version of Alexander in an arena surrounded by spikes with four platforms; this area is separated in two by even more spikes. If you fail this challenge, you are returned to the regular game with no negative outcome, and are free to retry this challenge when ready.

Calypso's Compass[editedit source]

Calypso's Compass is a compass which appears at the top of the screen and points the player to a hidden location. Once at this location, press up to enter the Secret Room.

Charon's Obol[editedit source]

Allows a player to enter the castle without paying Charon's fee. This is a great way to amass a good fortune, as Charon's toll is often exorbitant.

Curse of the Hedgehog[editedit source]

Any damage caused to the hero will cause gold pieces to drop, just like a certain well-known blue hedgehog of SEGA fame.

Hermes' Boots[editedit source]

Hermes' Boots allows for regular floor spikes to be traversed. It doesn't prevent any damage from wall or ceiling spikes, and it doesn't prevent spike traps from triggering or causing damage.

Herodotus's Obol[editedit source]

Allows for re-entry into the boss room for Herodotus, triggering a fight with Astrodotus and Herodotus. The arena is a huge single platform looping in each direction. Upon entering, the player is changed into a level 0 Dragon with 250 health, 50 mana, and only haste ruins. Herodotus is extremely aggressive and is faster than Astrodotus, while Astrodotus causes more damage but moves incredibly slow.

Helios' Blessing[editedit source]

Helios' Blessing grants a dramatic increase in the chance and quantity of gold that drops from enemies. This does not affect chests.

Hyperion's Ring[editedit source]

Hyperion's ring will grant Death Defy for the current round, and will revive the character hero for 25%.

Khidr's Obol[editedit source]

This Obol allows you to re-enter the previously completed Khidr's boos room. Khidr appears as a massively buffed version of itself, called Neo Khidr, at level 275. The character hero becomes a level 0 Spellsword with 248 health, 50 mana, 35 strength, 232 magic, and 25 armor. The player is equipped with two vault runes, one sprint rune, two haste runes, the Blade Wall spell, and the Nerdy Glasses.

Nerdy Glasses[editedit source]

The Nerdy Glasses correct the Color Blindness, Nearsighted, Nostalgic, and Vertigo Traits. It makes hidden items visible and reveals the correct chest in the Miserly Elf room. Where is the paradise cove luau in oahu.

Ponce de Leon's Obol[editedit source]

Allows re-entry into the Ponce de Leon boss room, where you will face off against an upgraded Ponce de Leon. Here, you will changed into a Barbarian King with 495 health, 60 mana, and a six jump ability. Dying will return you to outside the boss room without any negative impact.

Traitor's Obol[editedit source]

After you finish off all the upgraded versions of the bosses, you will get this obol, which, when given to Charon, allows you to enter any boss chamber you have previously completed to fight Johannes the Traitor. Johannes has 700 health and 300 mana, and uses various destructive spells. You will also have to fight two shadow copies of yourself with upgraded health and mana. Once you have one, you will be rewarded with the 'Syngenesophobia' achievement, and if you enter the room as Traitor class, you will receive the achievement 'Katagelasticism'.
