This propaganda piece is from the March 1933 Reichstag election, which was the last before the Nazis took ultimate control. The poster shows President Hindenberg, who was a famous war hero, and Chancellor Hitler. The text reads, 'The Reich will never be destroyed if you are united and loyal.' It appeals to the patriotism of the German people, who had just gone though devastation after World War I and was still in the midst of the Great Depression. The Nazis would go on to (legally) win the election, and proceed to appoint Hitler 'Fuhrer' and fully take control of the German government.

This propaganda piece from the 1930s shows the extent to which Axis propaganda pieces would go. This poster makes a very direct Christian comparison between Hitler and Jesus. Strikingly similar to when a dove descended on Christ when he was baptized by John the Baptist, an eagle hovers against the light of heaven over an image of Hitler. The captain at the bottom reads, 'Long live Germany!'. This shows just how highly Hitler thought of himself and how he wanted to be displayed: as a supreme ruler, almost equivalent to a god.

This propaganda piece is from the Hitler's 1936 referendum. The text on the poster reads, 'Before: Unemployment, hopelessness, desolation, lockouts', 'Today: Work, joy, discipline, camaraderie', 'Give the Fuhrer your vote!'. The poster displays how, under the leadership of the Nazi party, the country was able to recover and thrive. Germany was in economic decline, with hyperinflation and high unemployment, with war reparations to pay before the emergence of Nazi leadership. Citizens were angry and hostile, tired of political ineffectiveness. The Nazi party, up to this point, had been able to put people back to work, start public works programs, and begin to turn the economy around.

These propaganda pieces are from 1939 in Vienna. The first accuses Jews of commercial misdeeds, 'charging excessive prices..hoarding and exploiting'. The second displays a clear anti-Semitic message, 'Down with the Jewish bargaining spirit.' These posters show the anti-Semitic message and beliefs that would soon dominate the Nazi party and lead to the atrocities and devastation in the Holocaust.

This propaganda piece from 1941 shows how the Axis Powers attempted to use and distort the Allied messages for their own use. The title states 'Germany Must Die!'. It exploits an insignificant 1941 self-published book by Theodore Kaufman of the United States, which advocated sterilization of the German population and dismemberment of Germany as a nation. The Nazis presented the book as 'official Allied policy', and claimed Kaufman was a influential advisor to Roosevelt. This was just one of many ways that the Axis Powers attempted to 'brainwash' their population and distort the views of the opposition.
